'POLE FITNESS PHOTO SHOOT WITH JULIE AS A MODEL: KEEPING IT CLASSY by Jacques Gaines'

'Pole fitness or Pole dancing? This photo shoot consisted of working with pole fitness artists. What is pole fitness? It is a more fitness oriented version of Pole Dance Here are the links I pprommised at the beginning of the video: Trade for print pros and cons: https://youtu.be/oigBZvo3SUY Claudiane: https://youtu.be/98D4P8AII-s Cynthia: https://youtu.be/5vBW5ODK8P4 Meg and Owen: https://youtu.be/SZSUNgrMqio Now it is important to not mix the two. Both pole fitness people and pole dancer people make it clear that they are not the same. Pole fitness is the more \"respectable\" face of pole dancing. Because this form of expression requires so much physical activity, it has also become a way to keep in shape. My personal opinion is that you can change a name but visually both forms of expression are extremely sexy and that sexiness cannot be denied. I was approached by Julie Leclerc to take pictures of her. I quickly went on Instagram and searched pole fitness and pole dance to see what would pop up. Instantly, my screen showed me some of the most tacky photos I possibly could imagine. You see, because pole fitness just screams sexy it tends to pull a certain type of photographer and photography toward it. But make no mistake, it is beautiful and easily should be raised to the likes of art form like Aerial hoop, hula hoop, and trapeze that we see in circus performances. The photographic challenge I guess that you can see it coming but my challenge was to extract the respectable more beautiful aspect of this art form. But here lies the problem. Sexiness is beautiful and pulls us in. When one demonstrates sex appeal, they are, in and of themselves, casting beauty that is so strong that one has a hard time to look away. When one takes photos of something that emanates sex as much as this, one cannot ignore the sexiness but bring it to light in a respectful manner. So I worked hard to pull the beauty aspect from the sexy aspect. How the photo shoot went This photo shoot took a while to set up because both Julie and I had very busy schedules but we finally found a way to get it going on a Friday night. She had brought a couple of friends along with her great boyfriend JF Faber that I had done my high speed synchronization project with a while back. As for the actual photo shoot things could not have gone better because the whole gang that was there were some of the coolest people I had ever met. Because these people need a pole to do what they do, it took a little while to set up stuff but everyone chipped in their muscles and time without a beat to get the job done. All in good fun. Here are my lessons learned When people were really cool it is sometimes worth taking some time off and talking and chit chatting. Even though you have a job to do, it is cool to establish a rapport. Should have taken more time to do that. I am loving my SK300s because they offer me a way to paint light on the subject while shooting. In and of themselves, they are not the greatest of flashes though. Need to listen to myself when I said a while back to narrow down my photo shoot subjects. All these people wanted pictures taken of them. Although it is cool to do that each subject necessitates a new flash setup. It\'s not just like taking a snapshot and moving on. Julie again was a trooper. I love working with great subjects TFP might slowly go out the door because the biggest problem for me is that I have a day job. The nature of the deal is that the model will get photos. I wil not give out raw or untouched jpegs so it adds a stress to getting stuff delivered, whereas if I pay the model, the deal has been done so I do not have to deliver any photos. My recently purchased softbox strips were really cool. Loved working with them and hope I will get the chance to use them again because I know nothing about how to use them. I learned enough on this shoot to know that for full body shots they are essential. retouching can be long Flash lighting I am still learning a ton on my flash lighting. But on this shoot everything came out. I recenly purchased a set of two GODOX SK300s with the remote syatem that goes with it. Although a tad weak they are proving to be quite a great compliment to my main flash the Strobepro X600 lithium which I truly truly love.
