'How does exercise boost your immunity? But first what are white blood cells? White blood cells protect the body against infection and disease by absorbing foreign materials, by destroying infectious agents and cancer cells, or by producing antibodies. There are three types of white blood cells, they are, Granulocytes, Monocytes, Lymphocytes. They regulate immunity against bacteria and viruses as well. Lymphocytes produce antibodies and destroy cells that could cause damage. Fluctuations in white cell numbers occur during the day; lower values are obtained during rest and higher values during exercise. When you work out, the body circulates the lymphatic fluid which helps to improve the health of our lymphatic system.
