02:16 Apr 21, 2022
'In this episode of Training Tips, Allan MacDonald, GB Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, talks about the benefits of using the Lateral Jump and Land in your judo training. Throwing and resisting attacks in judo requires force, these forces are replicated in jumping and landing. Training in different planes of motion such as the lateral plane in this instance, can help build strength which can be put to use on the tatami. The exercise shown in this video have been specifically chosen as they require no specialist equipment and can be done in the dojo or weight room as part of a warm up routine or as specific strength training.
